The central feature of the geographic area where the church of Santa Eulària lies is the river. The historic importance of this river has been considerable and especially so with the estuary where the river meets the sea. The river water was used to irrigate large extensions known by the name of the Horta de Santa Eulària. The flour mills, concentrated at the foot of the Puig de Missa, also powered by river water, were of vital importance until the 18th century.
The river flows through the valley in a number of torrents after starting in the interior of the island.
