The painter Laureà Barrau i Buñol was born in Barcelona on 27 December, 1863. Barrau was a contemporary of the Catalan modernist painters, although not classified as part of this movement.
He arrived in Ibiza in 1912, and lived and worked there for more than 20 years, captivated by the light, colour and dress of the island. He died in Santa Eulària des Riu.
In the Barrau museum, located on the Puig de Missa of Santa Eulària des Riu, it is possible to see some of this artist’s work, although much of it is now part of private collections.
